I'm not really a country music fan but this song is pretty cool. The video shows several clips from the "The Passion of The Christ" movie. The singers are Sara Evans and Brad Paisley.

REMEDY is here!
DC*B rocks it again and brings a cd packed full of powerful songs and incredible lyrics. This is definitely worth buying. I am so glad I was able to go to the cd Release Party last night and hear it all live. It was awesome!
It is also so cool getting to go to UBC every Sunday. It's a great place and getting involved in their Sunday school time has been wonderful for Dani and me. One of the things that is talked about a lot around UBC is how the songs that the band writes are written from the community experience at UBC. Last night, as I was listening to Remedy, I really understood this. Here are the lyrics:
Can you feel it?
Can you feel it?
The love in this place
Can you feel it?
Can you feel it?
Can you feel it?
The grace in this place
Can you feel it?
Everytime I walk into UBC or hang out with other UBC-ers, I feel it. I think that rocks!
Anyway, get the cd!

Following ALL the Rules
Newsweek has this article posted on it's website this morning. It's about an author who set out a year ago to follow every rule in the Bible. He's written a book about his experiences and shares with Newsweek what it was like for him and his family as he tried to take the rules as he understood them as literally as possible (even attempting to stone an adulterer).
It's a interesting article with several discussion points. The first thing I found intriguing was in his first answer to the interviewer. A.J. Jacobs (the author) responded to the question about returning to a "life of sin" by saying:
"I miss my sin-free life, but I guess I was never sin free. I was able to cut down on my coveting maybe 40 percent, but I was still a coveter. Flat-screen TVs, the front yard of my friend in the suburbs, a better cell phone, higher Amazon rankings. And that's not to mention coveting my neighbor's wife. I live in New York, I work in publishing, so there’s a lot of coveting, lying and gossiping."
What do you think of his venture?

From China to the Rest of the World
After posting the article about China's population control policy, I thought this was an interesting article on the flip side.

I hope it was a good sermon
In odd news, apparently some thieves really liked the way this lady preaches.
The article ends with:
"Damage repair including cleaning and a new alarm service totaled about $1,000.
As for the sermon?
The minister thinks it ended up in the trash somewhere."
I wonder if she was talking about the "stolen" sermon notes or the one she had to "wing".

News from China on Families
I saw the headline when I opened my web browser: "China cracks down on families that violate one-child policy" and my interest was peaked. It's amazing how different life is depending on the culture in which you live.
You can read the full article here.
So, what would you do if you lived in China and were legally restricted to only having one child?

Interesting Article on Political Poll
I wonder what the statistics would have been during the last few presidential elections. It seems like priorities have shifted a bit (which may not be that bad of a thing). You can read about the current poll here.
What do you think this says about the mindset of most voters? Who do you think will win (whether you want them to or not)? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Fun Times
This past weekend was a lot of fun. The Bears beat Rice, the Cowboys beat the Giants, and we had a lot of family time. We've really enjoyed getting to go to University Baptist Church and just started going to Sunday School there. The class for our age group is called "The Other Side" because we're on the other side of college (since most of the other people who go to this church are college students).
It's so fun being in a class with a group of people who like to discuss things about God and life and how it all fits together. The first week we talked about worship and living as a sarcrifice and this past week we talked about being free in Christ and how that relates to living as a sacrifice. Pretty cool stuff.
It's also a lot of fun because it seems like half the group is from the Pacific Northwest so we have a lot to chat about (even though i'm not from there). i'm a Pacific Northwest want-a-be. i think the bumper sticker that you can see around Texas that reads, "I wasn't born in Texas but I got here as fast as I could" would resonate with me if it read something like, "I was born in Texas and have been trying to go to the Pacific Northwest at every turn" or something like that. :)
Don't get me wrong, i love Texas and have enjoyed living here but there is something really cool and different about the Pacific Northwest area.
Anyway, i'm still running and working toward the half marathon next spring, i just got bored of writing my progress everyday.
