Out of the Mouths of Babes

The other day I walked into my bedroom where my wife and 4 year old daughter were sitting on the bed chatting with Oprah on in the background. My daughter was interested in what was going on in the show and wanted us to tell what was going on. We started to explain that Oprah was talking with someone and she cut in with, "That's not Oprah!" She was right, at the time she looked at the screen, the camera was on someone else. Now I'm wondering how she knows what Oprah looks like because we don't usually watch tv while our girls are awake.

Later that day, I was taking our middle daughter (2 year old) out on a "date." The girls were going to see a friend that was moving and wanted to give them a gift and I was trying to move away from a date always involving ice cream so I figured we could go to Target and hang out together and she could pick out the toys for her friends at the same time.

Well, when we returned home, my 4 year old wanted to know what we did on our date and we told her we went to Target. My oldest responded with, "That's not a date!" Apparently I need dating lessons.

I don't know...going to Target would count as a date in my book anytime. Especially if someone else is paying!! She'll learn!
